Job Description:

GIMC is recruiting a pool of short- and long-term Consultants for its current as well as anticipated projects. The consultants, as described in detail, will work with GIMC on a variety of technical and research assignments. Each assignment will be separately negotiated with the Consultant and an agreement will be signed considering the terms and conditions of the specific assignment with following postions:

Post_1_ Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) -GIMC/MEL/01

  1. Proven experience in designing, implementing and managing robust M&E systems to gather, analyze, and process required information on programmatic activities.
  2. Experience in working with international development organizations.
  3. Development of M&E policies and strategies for effective management for results
  4. Design, manage, implement, and improve data collection tools, reporting and tabulation templates.
  5. Experience in the design, management, and implementation of Third-Party Monitoring (TPM).
  6. Experience in designing and management of learning and knowledge management systems.

Master’s degree with 5 years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 7 years relevant experience

Post - 2) Agriculture/ Agribusiness, Post-Harvest, Veterinary, Agronomy, horticultural specialist : GIMC/AG/02

Key Responsibilities:

Agricultural Expertise:

  • Provide expert guidance on modern and sustainable agricultural practices to improve crop yields and quality.
  • Offer advice on soil health, irrigation, and pest management strategies.

Agribusiness Development:

  • Collaborate with local farmers and stakeholders to develop agribusiness strategies for sustainable growth.
  • Identify value-added opportunities and market linkages for agricultural products.

 Post-Harvest Management:

  • Enhance post-harvest processes to minimize losses and improve the quality of harvested crops.
  • Introduce efficient storage, processing, and preservation techniques.

Veterinary Support:

  • Provide veterinary expertise to ensure the health and well-being of livestock and poultry.
  • Offer guidance on disease prevention, vaccination, and animal husbandry practices.

Agronomy and Horticulture:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of agronomy and horticultural initiatives.
  • Promote sustainable practices for crop cultivation and landscape management.

 Capacity Building:

  • Conduct training sessions for farmers, extension workers, and community members on best agricultural practices.
  • Share knowledge and technical skills to enhance local agricultural capabilities.

   Research and Innovation:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in agriculture and agribusiness.
  • Explore innovative solutions and technologies to address challenges and improve productivity.

8Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate agricultural strategies into broader development projects.
  • Compile and analyze data to generate reports on agricultural outcomes and impacts.

         Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Veterinary Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in agricultural and agribusiness development.
  • Strong knowledge of post-harvest techniques, veterinary practices, agronomy, and horticulture.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Problem-solving abilities and adaptability to different agricultural contexts.
  • Previous experience in community engagement and capacity building.
  • Familiarity with agricultural research and innovations.

Post 3) Economic Growth- GIMC/EG/03

Experts with experience, qualification, and expertise in the following areas:

  1. Export promotion.
  2. Workforce development.
  3. Labor economics, labor market assessment, and labor migration.
  4. Livelihoods expertise with focus on rural, peri-urban, and urban areas.  Understand social-economic situation of IDPs, returnees, women, and youth.

 

Post_4_ Women Economic Empowerment-GIMC/WEE/04

  1. Work experience with women on livelihood, employment, and economic empowerment with specific focus on women across different sectors of the economy.
  2. Experience, both technical/implementation and research, on women in rural as well as urban areas.
  3. An in depth understanding of gender dynamics (both rural and urban), gender mainstreaming, economic and social inclusion, and gender-based violence.
  4. Challenges, constraints, and opportunities for women’s economic participation in economic growth, agriculture, and industry.

Post-5_Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)-GIMC/GESI/05

  1. Demonstrated experience in gender issues affecting Afghan women across all social and economic spectrums.
  2. Experience and in-depth understanding of gender dynamics, gender relations, gender index and others.
  3. Experience in gender-based violence (GBV) and other forms of violence against women
  4. Women’s social and political empowerment Women participation in civil society

Post_6_ Education_GIMC/ED/06

  1. Primary and Secondary (K-12) Education Research:
  2. Education master’s or PhD in education, social sciences, and related fields.
  3. Experience assessment tool development, education research, monitoring, and evaluation, and learning assessments, especially in Afghanistan.
  4. Experience in assessment tools include, but not limited to: EGRA,  EGMA, SEGMA, RNRT, MTEG, SABER SD, BEQI, and IDELA.
  5. Demonstrated experience developing large scale assessment tools, frameworks and strategies, particularly related student’s learning outcome. Experience on development of non-academic skills assessment.

Post_7_) Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET)-GIMC/TVET/07:

  • Proven empirical social research competencies in TVET. At Least 3-5 years
  • Proven Statistical competencies what are statistical competencies. At least 3-years
  • Understanding of the Informal economy in Afghanistan
  • Understanding of the traditional Ostad-Shagerdi training scheme/informal, non-formal, and private TVET

Post _9_ Medical Doctor-GIMC/Doc/09

1. Health Education and Hygiene Teaching:

  • Develop and deliver health education programs focused on hygiene practices to local communities.
  • Conduct informative sessions to raise awareness about sanitation, cleanliness, and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to create engaging and culturally sensitive educational materials.

2. Malnutrition Management:

  • Assess and identify malnutrition cases within communities and design interventions to address them.
  • Collaborate with nutritionists and health workers to develop strategies for improving nutritional habits.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions, adjusting strategies as needed.

3. Surveys and Household Selection:

  • Plan and lead surveys to assess health and nutrition conditions within target communities.
  •  Design survey tools, collect data, and analyze findings to inform program decisions.
  • Participate in the selection process of households eligible for health and nutrition support.

4. Capacity Building:

  • Train local health workers and community volunteers on health education and hygiene practices.
  • Provide guidance on identifying malnutrition indicators and referral pathways for treatment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Analyst to join our team. The Database Analyst will play a crucial role in managing beneficiary data by accurately entering information into the GIMC and client databases. The ideal candidate should possess proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS and have experience with data collection tools like SCOPE and Kobo Toolkit.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Entry and Management:

  •  
    • Accurately and efficiently enter beneficiary data into the GIMC and client databases.
    • Regularly update and maintain the databases to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

2. Statistical Analysis:

Post 11_ ) :Drawing and Site Survey Engineer-GIMC/Eng/11

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drawing and Site Survey Engineer to join our team. The engineer will be responsible for conducting site surveys, creating accurate drawings, and ensuring that construction projects are planned and executed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Surveys:

  • Conduct thorough site surveys to gather accurate measurements and relevant data.
  • Assess site conditions, including topography, utilities, and any potential obstacles.

2. Drawing Creation:

  •  Create detailed and accurate drawings, plans, and schematics using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  •  Ensure drawings adhere to industry standards, regulations, and project requirements.

3. Construction Planning:

  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop project plans based on survey data and drawings.
  •  Assist in designing layouts that optimize space utilization and functionality.

4. Data Analysis:

  • Analyze survey data to identify potential challenges and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with teams to optimize project designs and address technical issues.

5. Technical Support:

  • Provide technical expertise during project planning and execution phases.

Job Requirements:

Nature of Work:

GIMC is looking for experts/consultants in topics/areas listed above who are available to work on both short- and long-term assignments. The nature of work described below is generic and may differ based on the nature of the specific assignments:

  1. Short- (10 to 60 working days) and long-term (60-120 working days) consulting assignments with immediate notice of availability. The assignments’ working days will spread over several months.
  2. The consultant work with a dedicated GIMC team who will offer logistics, office, accommodation, and other technical support during the assignment.
  3. The Consultant will work closely with client and GIMC leadership and lead the design of:
    • Implementation/work plan
    • Inception report
    • Tools and instrument design
    • Field work – Data collection
    • Reporting (with substantial support/input from GIMC technical teams)
    • Presentation of the final report and findings to client
  4. Assist/advice GIMC business development team on proposal preparation
  5. Salary will be negotiated per assignment and will be based on either hour’s work, workdays and linked clearly to specifically negotiated deliverables/outputs.

Availability:

GIMC will make every effort to offer an early notice of availability to the potential consultant.

  1. Duration of the consulting assignments is generally between 10-120 working days. The working days are usually spread over a period of several months. For example, a 30-working day assignment would require ten (10) week duration to complete.
  2. The presence/availability of the consultant during the consulting period is required. However, GIMC will negotiate with the consultant a mix of virtual/in-person availability should the consultant take on another assignment or travel.
  3. Availability to travel to the provinces.
  4. Be available to attend client meetings, technical meetings, and meetings with stakeholders.

Cross Cutting Qualifications and Expertise:

  1. Excellent knowledge of assessments, evaluation, research, and a good understanding of the related sector
  2. At least 5 years’ experience in the specific sector/area.
  3. Demonstrable experience with an array of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including in the systematic verification and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.
  4. Ability to manage field work (data collection, KIIs and FGDs) and engage all stakeholders effectively.
  5. Ability to write concise and analytical reports and a thorough understanding of how to tailor written content to fit different audiences.
